Washington, DC's Union Station is undergoing an $8.8 billion, 13-year redevelopment project to modernize and expand the station's facilities. The 2nd Century Plan aims to double train capacity and triple passenger capacity over the next 20 years. The project includes:
Reconstructed rail yard
Modernized train hall and concourse
Underground garage and pick-up/drop-off area
Integration with bus facilities on the planned H Street deck
Better connectivity with the train hall
Wide rail platforms
Integrated bus terminal
Updated concourses lined with shops and restaurants
New retail area
Food court
