Embedding videos doesn't take up space because they are hosted elsewhere. However, uploading videos to a site does take up space on the server. Uploading multiple videos can potentially take up too much space, which can slow down load times if multiple users view the video at the same time.
Here are some other examples of how embedding can affect storage:
Embedding PDFs: Embedding PDFs in objects using a URL saves storage space. A PDF can take up several hundred megabytes.
Embedding code: Embedding an "object"-code from YouTube doesn't take up space.
Embedding images: An external image, such as an image that is a link to a website, doesn't take up storage space on your computer.
